Becoming a parent is one of the biggest leaps we take as adults and nothing can prepare you for the change.
I designed the 8-week Parent’s Playgroup Course because I wanted to share the most valuable tool I have as a parent – sign language. It has helped me, my partner and my children immensely.
This isn’t your typical playgroup – it’s where adult education meets playgroup. I want to share my decades of knowledge as an early intervention teacher to upskill parents, so they can be the best possible teachers for their children. More than just baby sign language, this is a space where you will learn how to support all areas of your child’s development, from language & communication, to wellbeing and safety, as well as cognitive and physical development. All evidence-based practices brought to you after years of experience at home and professionally.
Investing in yourself so you can support your child
- 8 weeks of training – how to best support your baby’s development
- Over 120 signs to support language development
- Expert facilitator sharing decades of child development knowledge
This comprehensive playgroup course will walk you through dozens of signs each, as well as arm you with tons of knowledge on language development, literacy, and how best to support your little one in the critical early years of development. All in the safe and playful space of a playgroup, including songs, books and activities.
What’s covered?
- Week 1 – Routine signs & language development theory
- Week 2 – Farm Animal signs & supporting earlier communication
- Week 3 – Food signs & supporting clearer communication
- Week 4 – Transport signs & supporting little talkers
- Week 5 – Emotion signs & supporting wellbeing and safety
- Week 6 – Colour signs & supporting early literacy
- Week 7 – Wild Animal Signs & holistic learning and development
- Week 8 – More routine signs & early toilet training
What others have said about the course:
★★★★★ Google Review
“I took the 8 week course with Megan and it has been great. I love how each lesson we learn enough key words signs, that it doesn’t become too overwhelming as well as delving into literacy and language, how it’s produced and how children learn to speak and understand language.
As a parent and an educator I used the Key word signs frequently and gained a lot of knowledge from this course. It helped me communicate with my own child at home as well as the children in my care at my service, as I saw how beneficial it is to help with early communication or non verbal children. I would 100% recommend baby sign/keys language classes to any other parent or educator!”

Course Details
This course is open to families with babies birth to 12 months old. Families with older children may be accepted under limited circumstances, please get in touch if you have an older child and would like to join.
Baby Sign courses are inclusive spaces welcoming all families.
To ensure safety and comfort of the little babies that attend the playgroup, we ask that you find care for older siblings. It’s also a great chance for you to dedicate time to your newest addition.
Both parents are welcome to attend. Price is per child. Discount available for twins.
Please note: this is not an Auslan course. Yes, the signs presented are Auslan (Australian sign language) signs, however the purpose of this course is to support your child’s speech and overall language development, not leave you fluent in Auslan. If that is your goal, I am happy to recommend some other organisations that can help you achieve your goals!
10% of proceeds from this playgroup course go towards funding playgroups for families who are experiencing disadvantage and hardship.
