NDIS Early Intervention Services

Baby Sign offers early intervention sessions to teach children and their communication partners KWS and additional strategies to support language and communication, and how to successfully implement KWS at home, childcare and/or school. Early Intervention KWS sessions complement other therapies, such as speech therapy and occupational therapy.

Regular sessions also offer benefits that short courses don’t, such as individualised training (learn the exact signs that your child and family need), check ins and adjustments to ensure effective implementation in your home and family.

Sessions Tailored to Your Child’s Needs

Each KWS early intervention session is designed and tailored specifically to your child’s needs. We work with you to establish communication goals, and reflect on what is working and not working for your family, and learn the specific signs that are going to have the biggest impact on communication. As it’s through communication that a deeper level of communication is formed.

Baby Sign KWS sessions are best suited to children from birth-7 years old, who have a diagnosis that has or is likely to result in a significant speech and language delay. Sessions are play-based and child-centred, following many practices informed by speech therapy. Sessions are available at Bundoora or Brunswick Clinic, in-home or childcare across Melbourne (subject to travel fees), or online sessions are also available for families across Australia.

A note from Meg – Early Intervention Teacher

I’ve personally taught hundreds of children to sign, including children with autism, down syndrome, and ultra-rare chromosomal conditions.

The one thing that I can say after years of teaching Auslan and key word sign is that all children thrive with sign. I’ve seen 6-7 year old children go from non-verbal, to communicating about their wants, needs and interests in a matter of months.

I’m so glad that I am able to share this wonderful gift with families to support them to connect and communicate with their child – something that some parents never thought possible.
