Baby Sign offers private early intervention key word sign sessions to children with significant speech and language delays.

Key Word Sign (KWS) is a life changing skill for children who cannot speak as it creates a space where they can communicate and connect with the people around them.

What is a Baby Sign KWS Session?

A Baby Sign KWS session focuses on play-based interventions to support children from 0-7 years old to develop better communication, language and speech. In addition to supporting children directly, sessions train the child’s communication partners (mum, dad, siblings, extended family, educators and teachers) to have a large vocabulary of signs to best support the child.

A note from Meg – Early Intervention Teacher

Over the years I have helped hundreds of children learn to sign. From just a few months old, to 12 years old.  The amazing thing about teaching children Auslan, (Australian Sign Language) whether in the form of key word sign (KWS) or as an additional language, is they all love it and benefit in different ways. Below is a list of some of the conditions I have worked with in the past.

  • Global Developmental Delay
  • Selective Mutism
  • Autism
  • Down Syndrome
  • Hearing Loss / Deaf
  • Cri du Chat
  • Rare genetic/chromosomal conditions

Early intervention is key for language and communication development. The first 3 years of a child’s life is when their brain is primed for learning language. Don’t wait for them to develop a speech and language delay. Get in early, learn the signs you need to communicate with them today and set them up for success.
